Laughs

Ruth's hair is always a crowd pleaser.
Eden has been wearing this "pretty necklace" all morning. Are you gagging like me?

Life

I know my blog is boring. I only talk about the kids. I do have other things to talk about though. A blog is like a journal, I always feel like writing in my journal when I want to complain or vent. I try not to do that with my blog, so the fact that I haven't been saying much is actually saying a lot.
It looks like our Spring Break will be spent with Paul in the library. I am selfish. I am so disappointed and almost resentful towards Paul I don't want to talk about it.
Usually I don't talk about my job because there isn't really anything to say about being a waitress at Chili's. I burn my hands on hot plates and come home with sore feet. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy work. I have been able to experience Mississippi through the eyes of a blue collar worker.
It snowed again on Presidents' Day.
Eden claims Ruthie is rolling over. I have seen her rollover once but every other time it is Eden giving her a little nudge. I do not have a picture of Ruth without Eden in the background. Eden calls Ruth her "squishy" and loves to kiss her cheeks multiple times.

It's in my story

This morning David came in our room holding his goldfish. When questioning him why he took the fish out of the bowl he said, "It's in my story. See...David gets the goldfish".

Ah...this is a common excuse in our house.

When Eden is grouchy I ask her to please be happy. She will say, "I can't, it's in my story. Eden is grouchy."

I tell them to be SuperWHY and change their stories.
They prefer to use "their story" to excuse crazy behavior.

Valentines Day

Yesterday I told the kids that they will get a special Valentines from me. Eden was thrilled and inquired all day about what the special surprise was.

Today I presented Eden with a homemade Valentine & princess gloves, David also received a homemade Valentine & a tiny blue jet. Eden's reaction was: "Mom, I don't want gloves. I thought you were going to get me a Barbie or a Valentine stuffed animal." David's reaction was: "cool."
It made me laugh. Eden obviously had expectations I did not meet. It's good to give this girl a reality check...she loves presents.
Paul was Mr. Cupid himself making me breakfast in bed and a homemade card. I am SO impressed with his homemade card. I usually give him a card I made to write on so he doesn't end up spending $5 and an hour of misery in the card isle.
Paul said I am hard to buy for, so he opted to serve me this year. He made dinner and did all the dishes. It was my favorite present yet. When will Eden start appreciating service as a gift?

Sick days

Last week David was sick: 1 throw up, continous running nose & cough This week David is still sick and now so are Eden & Ruthie: ear infection & croup

(notice Ruthie's sweet rat tail)

This is Ruth's first time being sick. Last night a nurse gave her an antibiotic shot in the leg. Ruth screamed. Eden turned away, covered her ears and cried...I teared up but kept it together. Then Eden got a shot in her bum and cried some more. When we left Eden coughed. She stopped and exclaimed, "mom, that shot didn't work."

Looking forward to happy and healthier days.

4 months

Ruth is the third child. She is an angel sent straight down from heaven. She brightens our day.
I study her eyes, especially in the morning. She is vibrant and happy to be alive. She is not as independent as Eden or cuddly as David. She is dependable. She searches for me, she loves to make eye contact with me and stare. I can see she has a deep soul filled with stories and love. When I look in her eyes I feel like I am the child. She has wisdom. I know I can count on her. She is content just being herself. She doesn't have to impress us because she knows we love her.
She likes to hold my fingers when she feeds. She loves to suck her binkie and fingers. She squeals and shrieks when she is happy. She still likes to be wrapped tight when she sleeps. She sleeps from 8:30pm-6:00am. She hardly ever cries when I bathe her. She laughs when Paul throws her up in the air.

Give me a break

Today at Wal-Mart David had a complete melt down when I didn't buy him a KitKat bar at the register. I have never seen him act so crazy over chocolate. I told Paul what happened and he relayed this story to me:

"I bought him a KitKat and I ask him to share with me. He broke off a piece then gave it to me. I quickly ate it. Then he looked at the KitKat package and as if just realizing what he had done; he collapsed to the floor and flipped out."

January 24, 2010

I can't believe such growth can happen. Today Eden & Ruth wore twiner dresses. The first of many to come (if I have it my way).

What has been going on in our lives...

-Last weekend Ruth & I went to Utah for a girls retreat. It was sooo much fun. A perfect get-a-way before school started. Thank you Amber & Mom for recharging my battery. (the camera card was erased, no pictures)

Paul was super dad while I was away. He took the kids to the zoo, Chuck E Cheese and the monster truck rally. They had a blast! They didn't miss me at all. Although when I talked to Eden on the phone she said, "Mom, you need to come home so we can eat dinner as a family." She loves to be all together.

-I went back to work at Chili's. No comment.
Amber: the Caribbean Salad is back and better than ever.

-Paul was accepted to the PhD program at Ole Miss. 1 down-15 more to hear back from.
- Paul had a cavity and got it filled. Cross your fingers it doesn't turn into a root canal. Do you know how expensive those are? Holy Moly.
-Paul and I started a Marriage Course hosted by the United Methodist Church.
- David went pee in the potty twice!!! He thinks he is potty trained and doesn't need to go again. When we ask him to go potty he saids, "I already did...yesterday." Soon, very soon I think he will have it.

One last outing...

before school started. Paul started school this week. Part of me saids "boo" and the other part saids "hooray". It is his last semester. We have enjoyed law school and he has learned SOOO much. Sometimes he uses big fancy words I have never heard of...especially when he is arguing. I love him.

This is us at a hockey game in Tueplo. I always seem to meet interesting people in Tueplo. At the Burger king (where we were letting our kids expel all their energy on the playground) a grandpa tried to sell me a giant Elvis school bus. He also told his grandson that he would "take him behind the barn and wear out his belt on his backside". I also met a lady who followed me into the bathroom trying to sneak a peek at Ruth. When I acknowledged her presence she reached her arms out and cuddled Ruth. The lady was enchanted by Ruthie's hair. I commend her for her bravery and sincere love for babies. Ruthie made her smile.
The kids loved the game. David clapped and cheered. Eden danced to the music. Ruthie was an angel and didn't mind all the noise. She is one stalwart baby. There were several moments when Paul would look at me and I knew we were both thinking: "I love our family."

It snowed

Everything is canceled. Great day.

We have captured a smile

Sometimes when Ruthie nurses milk drips out of her nose. Today when I unwrapped her from a long nap I couldn't tell if she was covered in sweat or pee. None of it bothers me. I'll say it a million times...I am loving this little lady.

* David became a SUNBEAM on Sunday. It was a different day (that is putting it nicely). For the last 20 minutes I had to hold him down while he tried to escape. It's difficult being in primary and trying to get my kids to sit with their teachers. I just got Eden to actually sit with her class last month. He will learn. It is the cutest thing to see David look for Eden and wave at her.

I have made my 2010 New Years Resolutions. I stopped making resolutions several years ago but this year I have some major goals.

1. Floss everyday

2. Run the St. George Marathon (October 2)

3. Loose 15 lbs...on Christmas morning I will be sitting in front of that tree with less arm flab opening my new pair of sassy jeans Santa will bring me for my tight little bum.

8 thoughts for the New Year

1. 'Baby Roof' is 3 months old. 15 lbs of complete joy. When she is on a schedule, she is an angel. Tonight after I fed her, she kicked on the floor for 1 hour, then I changed her diaper and wrapped her up like a burrito. I placed her in the cradle wide awake and turned off the light. Did I mention she sleeps through the entire night? I feel so blessed. Paul calls her a 'smiling fool'. She LOVES to smile and coo at people.

I literally giggle whenever I hold her. Only Heavenly Father could create something this precious.
2. My Before and After project this week. I love white paint.

3. Andes de Menthe cookies are scrumptious. They are perfect for dipping in hot cocoa, frozen or nibbled right out of the box.

4. Christmas cards are wonderful. I don't want to take them down. It makes us feel loved and connected to all of you. 5. Eden playing with Nicolas. She has grown up so much this year. These two are so fun.

6. David in the cutest coat. What a beautiful child. I am so happy he has green eyes like me.

7. Hoping in 2010 Eden can respect Ruthie's personal space.

8. My 2010 New Year resolution is to be more POSITIVE.

New Orleans

Things we only do on vacation...

1. Walk back 8 blocks just to get our picture taken with a Jester statue.

2. Ride the transportation ferry because our kids want to go on a boat and we are not about to spend $50 for the cruise ferry.

3. Argue with Paul for 3 minutes about whether this is a statue or a real man. Of course I was right and he is a real man...amazing!

4. Pig out at Cafe Du Monde and other yummy southern cuisines.

5. Forget our swimming suits. Spend $23 on a swimming suit for Eden. Put David in underwear. Then muster all the courage I have to put on a sports bra, undies and an oversize t-shirt and jump in the pool with my kiddos. They had a blast.

6. Let David ride the train 2 times because he was so darn cute trying to reason with Paul. He told him: "One more time dad, ok? Just one more time."(as he holds up his little pointer finger )Other highlights:

- Having a drunk, homeless man laugh at Paul who is trying to take a picture of Eden & David smiling.

-Listening to a really gross, stinky old man tell us his family's secret for crying babies...peppermint & spring water.

- Paying $56 in parking...have you ever?

- Riding the trolley just for 3 blocks because David kept blowing kisses and begging us to ride it.

-Watching people try to calculate our kids...twins?...How could they possibly have 3?

-Eden loving being the big sister. She is such a helper.

* Being together as a family. We did it! Paul and I feel accomplished and exhausted.
